Thank you for making an easy to follow tatting tutorial. I've always wanted to learn to tat and have never gotten a chance. I think I'll give it a try!

This is extremely bright, I'm having difficulty seeing your steps with the glare from your light source.

Ok, I had the same problem and I finally figured it out! The thread that is wrapped around your hand needs to "flip" and become the thread making the knot while the thread from the shuttle remains taut. I recommend watching "Tatting: How to make a Chain and a Ring" by How2Tat for a visual explanation.

Thanks so much for posting these vids. I've beein eyeing vintage lace making patterns to add to handkerchiefs, and while I'd love to learn, I feared there'd be no one to teach me. Thank God for YT and you too!

this is a great tutorial, I have only been trying for a week, but can now do the stitches - the hard part is going to be understanding patterns. I am a crafts/decorative painting teacher and was looking for a new hobby & now I have found it. Personally don't like the music here & am glad to get on to the technique. Your teaching is excellent - thanks, Gill The Shooglie Brush

Sounds to me like your trying to hard. When I started I had the same problem. Deep breath nice cup of tea, (not too sweet for me ta). Ready? For now, don't worry about tension, lets just make the stitch, so follow the video but keep your thread loose. It sounds to me like you have a tight tension and therefore are making a knot, rather than a stitch. In a few weeks there will be some more videos. I have lealefts I can send you if you send message me a contact address. Good luck x x

Hello, Please please please can someone tell me why my stitches will not move along the thread. No matter how close I follow the video I am obviously not doing something correctly because when I pull the shuttle thread nothing moves. Hope someone can advise me. Thanks |
